The Mazda2 continues Mazda’s hugely successful award-winning KODO: Soul of Motion design theme. Drawing inspiration from the head-turning Hazumi concept car unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the Mazda2 defies convention by eschewing the traditional monobox shape that currently dominates supermini design, and features muscular cab-rearward proportions.
Key elements in delivering this dynamic form without compromising accommodation levels are the 2,570mm wheelbase and the sweeping a-pillars, which have been pushed rearwards by 80mm compared to the last-generation Mazda2. The Mazda2 hatchback posts a length of 4,060mm, height of 1,495mm and width of 1,695mm. This makes it 140mm longer, 20mm taller, and the same width as its predecessor.
Striking a high degree of visual consistency with other members of the Mazda line-up, the Mazda2 features the company’s striking KODO design face – a boldly contoured five-point 'wing' front grille. Its distinctive signature line runs through the lower lip of the grille and into the piercing headlamps.
The Mazda2 is optionally available in the superb Soul Red Crystal Metallic, which uses a unique paint process to deliver glossy depth and nuanced shading. In addition to this, the Mazda2 is available in the following colours Dynamic Blue Mica, Arctic White, Jet Black Mica, Snowflake White Pearlescent and Aluminium Silver Metallic, Deep Crystal Blue Mica and Meteor Grey Mica while the GT Sport Nav+ is also offered in Deep Crimson Mica and Eternal Blue Mica paint colours that are both exclusive to these range-topping models, and marked out further by LED headlights, LED daylight running lights, a contrasting black rear spoiler and 16-inch silver alloy wheels.
