On sale since June 2015, Mazda’s first compact SUV set out to take the competitive sector by storm with a 13-strong model line-up that combines Mazda’s unique SKYACTIV technology and KODO: Soul of Motion design philosophy. The CX-3 will bring new levels of sophistication, style, driving pleasure and equipment to the growing small SUV market.

With a choice of eight petrol and five diesel variants, the Mazda CX-3 comes with generous standard equipment and Mazda’s latest i-ACTIVSENSE safety systems. SE Nav models feature 16-inch alloy wheels, plus heated and power-folding mirrors, rear privacy glass and front LED fog lights. With LED headlights the CX-3’s unique nocturnal appearance is further enhanced by signature LED rear lights; 18-inch Gunmetal machined alloy wheels and chrome-accent door sills wrap up the distinctive look.

Inside, the Mazda CX-3 features a 7-inch colour touch-screen, DAB radio, Bluetooth® and a multifunction steering wheel as standard, while SE-L Nav adds navigation including 3-years free European map updates and the Sport Nav model further ups the technology tally with Bose® sound system, smart keyless entry and, in another first for the sector, Mazda’s Active Driving Display head-up display system. In line with all of Mazda’s newest models, the CX-3’s user-friendly cabin layout sets new standards in material quality and design, while SE-L Nav models benefit from heated front seats, automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers. Optional half Stone leather, half black LUX SUEDE® trim available on Sport Nav models further enhances the compact SUVs premium cabin.

The Mazda CX-3 boasts impressive active safety equipment to compliment the passive protection of its lightweight yet rigid SKYACTIV-Body and full complement of standard airbags, which includes curtain airbags. Hill Hold Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Dynamic Stability Control are standard across the range, while SE-L Nav and Sport Nav models feature Mazda’s Lane Departure Warning System and Smart City Brake Support. All models get cruise control, while rear parking sensors are standard from SE-L Nav grade onwards. Sport Nav models also benefit from a reversing camera and can be specified with the £400 Safety Pack that includes Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Control.

With a flexible cargo board boot floor, which can be raised to provide a flat load space when the standard 60:40 split fold rear seats are tumbled, the Mazda CX-3’s spacious 350-litre boot ensures it has the practicality to match its upmarket cabin and stylish exterior.

Featuring the signature ‘wing’ front grille, sharp KODO design lines and predatory headlamp styling which instantly identify it as a member of the Mazda family, the CX-3’s sweeping A-pillars and coupe-like profile give it a sporty stance on the road, yet with a 50mm higher driver’s eye line than the Mazda2, the CX-3 still offers the more commanding view of the road favoured by SUV customers.

Offered with either 120ps or 150ps, the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre petrol engine accounts for around 78 per cent of UK sales. Available in all trims, with both SKYACTIV-MT manual and SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmissions, the 120ps engine with front-wheel drive makes up the bulk of the line-up. However, at the top of the petrol range, the 150ps engine is matched exclusively to all-wheel drive (AWD), and a six-speed manual gearbox in Sport Nav trim.

Having made its debut in the Mazda2, the SKYACTIV-D 1.5-litre diesel engine completes the engine line up of the Mazda CX-3. As with petrol versions, front-wheel drive models make up the majority of the range, although the 105ps SKYACTIV-D Sport Nav AWD is offered with both manual and automatic transmissions. With emissions of just 105g/km the front-wheel drive SKYACTIV-D has an official combined economy of 70.6mpg, while across the range Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology ensures the Mazda CX-3 delivers an unrivalled blend of performance and efficiency.

Featuring the full complement of SKYACTIV technology – engines, body, chassis and transmissions – the Mazda CX-3 provides the responsive handling and spirited driving experience that Mazda has come to be recognised for. Embodying Mazda’s Defy Convention ethos, the Mazda CX-3 is designed to set new standards in the small SUV sector by offering levels of efficiency, style, handling, refinement and equipment not yet seen in this rapidly growing sector.
